Why execute multiple scripts?

That's a good question - after all can't you just dump all the scripts you need to run into one big file and simply execute it? Well, it depends and here is a simple scenario that you may have faced at one time or another:

You are the person in charge of maintaining your SQL Server database - no one can execute any scripts on the database, they all have to submit the scripts to you. You have created a master repository that contains a set of T-SQL Scripts that you need to execute every day - you can not put all the scripts together in one file as you have many developers that are responsible for different pieces - each of them checks in and out just the script they need to work on. So, you have this order list that tells you which script needs to run first, which one is second etc. so you go ahead and run those one by one! That's a pain, isn't it?

xSQL Script Executor

xSQL Script Executor is a free tool that allows you to run multiple T-SQL scripts at once against a SQL Server database. You can choose to run a single script file or a group of files identified by a pattern. You can also simply choose to run all the T-SQL scripts on a given folder or multiple folders. The xSQL Script Executor GUI allows you to easily order the scripts in the order in which you want to execute them against the database.

Furthermore, you can select to execute all the selected scripts in one big transaction or wrap each script in a separate transaction or not wrap the scripts in transactions at all.

Another great feature of xSQL Script Executor is the ability to execute the scripts in batches via the command line options which allows you to schedule those executions to run un-attended.
